Important Régence period console table in carved and gilt wood

France, circa 1715–1730

A grand and richly carved console resting on four boldly angled legs ending in ox-hoof feet, adorned with acanthus foliage and surmounted by winged faun masks.

The shaped and pierced apron is finely detailed with scrolling foliage, a central shell, and a female mask, all set against a mosaic-textured ground.

The top is fitted with a white veined marble slab, cut with a “bec de corbin” (crow-beak) edge profile.
